According to Google Trends, “What is Bitcoin?” is the most searched term of the Year 2018. In 2017, it was Bitcoin, but now more and more people are searching for the definition of Bitcoin.
Google Trends revealed that in 2017 Bitcoin was the most searched term on Google as the price of Bitcoin significantly rose throughout the year. In 2018, Bitcoin lost around 80% of Its gains. Because of the price decline, the interest in the technology also lost momentum. The one cryptocurrency related query which topped the Google Trends chart for 2018 was “What is Bitcoin?”
Along with “What is Bitcoin?”, other crypto related questions which are trending are “What is Ethereum?”, “Bitcoin fork”, “cryptocurrency debit cards”, etc. Other related topics which are trending include stock market and exchange traded funds (ETF). In countries such as the United States (U.S.) and the United Kingdom (U.K.), the question about Bitcoin has outpaced about the questions about government shutdowns, Ibex, GDPR, upskirting, and video game Fortnite.
According to Google Trends, the question “What is Bitcoin?”, is the most asked by the audience of all age groups but people age between 35-44 have a hard time to understand the technology. Pulsar conducted a research in March 2018, and in a certain period, it analyzed over 5 million Crypto mentions across popular social media channels. In the research, Pulsar found that mainstream audiences are still asking the question ”What is Bitcoin?” Though the cryptocurrency market has lost considerable value, but still it remained popular. It gives Bitcoin proponent confidence that the technology is still grasping the attention.
Google Trends also revealed that crypto apps are still trending. According to Google Trends, Square’s Bitcoin Cash App was the 17th most downloaded free app of 2018. Recently, the California Tech giant Apple released kids top App Store application of 2018 and upload Form which supports Bitcoin. The platform is called the Cash App. This week the app has also surpassed top payment platforms such as PayPal on Apple app store. Many Crypto platforms are still capturing the top trending apps on the Google Play Store.
