Former Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has become the latest celebrity to endorse digital currencies as he joins the long list of athletes and celebrities which already includes Paris Hilton and Floyd Mayweather.

According to reports by the Russian news agency RT, the Ivorian legend has been signed by all.me as their latest brand ambassador. It is a cryptocurrency company which awards its users by sharing with them a part of its ad revenues. Drogba was quoted by RT in Moscow saying, “it is a project in which I believe a lot.” He also sported the company’s swag during the interview to show his commitment to the endorsement. He also shared his picture wearing the swag on various social networks as a part of his deal.

All.me was founded by Artak Tovmasyan, who is an Armenian businessman. He came with the concept back in 2015 and now has a hard cap of $100 million for his token. He claims to have raised $30 million since the platform’s launch. He also plans on having an Initial Coin Offering(ICO) in the fourth quarter of this year.

He said in an interview with RT:

“This the first ever digital platform that combines a social network with a cryptocurrency bank and a trading floor. While before digital platforms took all advertising income for themselves, now we share up to half of it with the users – depending on how active they are”.

According to the all.me website, it will share 50% of advertising revenue with its users based on several factors such as activity, popularity and content.

With the craze of blockchain and cryptocurrency on the rise, there are many athletes who have joined the bandwagon in recent times. Last summer, the Colombian striker James Rodriguez launched his own cryptocurrency. The Bayern Munich star, in an attempt to strengthen his fan base, launched the digital currency and called it JR10 token. He signed a deal with the blockchain startup SelfSell who provided him with assistance for the same.

He wrote in a Twitter post: ‘”A brand new me’, sponsored and brought by SelfSell, will be activated. Will you guess what it is? Jump to download SelfSell App and join me.”
