In a recent tweet, Monero has said that Fortnite is exclusively accepting Monero as a crypto payment option while Fortnite has not made any official announcement. Monero enthusiasts are so happy to hear this news and believe that it is a signal that the world is moving towards crypto adoption.

Fortnite is one of the most popular video games in the world which has over 200 million registered users. The online video game developed by Epic Games was first released in 2017. According to the latest data, the current valuation of Epic Games is $15 billion. Fortnite has over 78.3 million monthly players. It is estimated that Fortnite earns around $2.5 million revenue in a day which helped the company to garner a $3 billion profit in the year 2018.

Fortnite is so popular amongst the American teens that, they wish to receive crypto and V-bucks (the virtual currency which the game use over cash or gift cards) as gifts. The Fortnite fans will now be able to buy trendy Fortnite fashions and other things using the Monero. The developer of Monero, Riccardo said that,

“Too cool: The Fortnite merch store lets you pay in Monero, so now you can purchase that sweet Durrr Burger onesie without friends/family/coworkers judging you.”

Fortnite has started to accept Monero but not Bitcoin. Riccardo explained that currently, Fortnite is not allowing Bitcoin because of its lack of privacy But the company is considering lightening network (LN) because there are chances that it will restore some privacy to Bitcoin.

“Fortnite is very interested in Lightning Network, and we’re pushing hard to get them to add that to the list. Right now, they’ve only enabled Monero, even though they have a number of options (including bech32-enabled Bitcoin).”

Privacy has become a major issue because of the increasing hacks and misuse of user data. Cryptocurrencies such as Monero and Zcash are popular among crypto users who give priority to privacy and want to maintain a high level of anonymity for their transactions.
