Craig Steven Wright, the Australian computer scientist and businessman who claimed to be the main part of the team that created Bitcoin has taken to Twitter to brand Greek-British Bitcoin advocate Andreas Antonopoulos, a ‘shitcoin expert’.
Andreas Antonopoulos is a host on the Let’s Talk Bitcoin podcast and also teach Digital Currency to M.Sc. students at the University of Nicosia. Craig believes that Andreas does not have knowledge about Bitcoin. He even said that the host of Let’s Talk Bitcoin podcast only knows how to spell Bitcoin. According to Craig, Andreas is an anarchist because of the philosophy he espouses about what cryptos should be or should not be.
“These guys have an idea of what they want as a system. It is anti-bank, anti-government and based on scams, Ponzi schemes and get rich yesterday schemes. The best they understand are bucket shops and cons. Luckily. Bitcoin is designed so all these fools spin their wheels on dead ends.”
A follower challenged Craig and asked why is he undermining Andreas even though he has proved himself a prolific Bitcoin advocate. Craig then said that proving a Bitcoin advocate is not enough. He further added that the only authority the writer of The Internet of Money and Mastering Bitcoin books has on the SegWit Coin.
It seems that Craig is against Andreas because Andreas is a vocal proponent of Bitcoin’s layer-2 solutions – off-chain micropayments network Lightning Network and SegWit while Craig is an opponent of Bitcoin layer-2 solutions. In his most recent tweet, Craig said that Lightning is shit squared. Once Craig expressed his views about the Lightning Network (LN) and said that,
“The Lightning Network is oversold. It has a place but not as a global payment system. The problem is simple. It is the maths behind the system. As much as people desire it to work, it is probably flawed due to an incomprehension that exists surrounding Bitcoin.”
In early 2017, Andreas said that not pursuing Bitcoin layer-2 solutions will eventually increase the risk of centralization in the Bitcoin ecosystem. The people who object lightening network and resist segwit are actually encouraging centralization in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
